Favorite actors

A short story of a former drama addict. In my younger years I only watched TVB. Around 2000, I watched my first Korean serie Stairway to Heaven. After that, I ventured outside my comfort zone TVB. I watched series from TVB, Korea, Taiwan and China. I rarely watch Japanese series. There are few detective Japanese series that I watched but that’s it. They just don’t appeal to me. Nowadays I rarely watch series anymore. After watching so many all the plots seems the same. The drama needs to be really interesting for me to watch it now, but I still have a soft spot for crime dramas. Everyone who has watched many, many dramas like me will have some actors that they especially liked. This is my list.
Favorite Actors:

1. Joo Won: I really like him, not just because he’s really handsome, but because he really can act. The first I saw him was in King of Baking, Kim Tak Goo. Then I thought this is a really great actor. He did really well for a rookie. I didn’t fall in love with him then, even though I liked his acting. I fell in love with him in Okjagyo brothers. He was really good. But the role that made me fell deeply in love with him was Bridal Mask. He was so brilliant. Sad, happy, crying, angry, he acted them all. I can’t stop saying how good of an actor he is. Till this day I can’t understand why Lee Min Ho is more popular than him. Acting score: 10/10

2. Yeo Jin Go: This guy really can act. I see a really brilliant future in him. The first time I saw him was in Iljimae. He was cute then with his baby face and he didn’t have his famous voice yet. When I saw him again in The Moon Embraces The Sun, I was stolen. He can play emotions so well. His eyes have so many emotions and he can do crying scenes better than many experienced actresses. Personally, I liked the child versions in The Moon Embraces the Sun than the adults. Those children were amazing. I must admit that I was captivated by his sexy voice. Imagine that voice whispering in your ears…    Acting score: 9.5/10

3. Jim Parsons: His character as Sheldon is what captured me. Sheldon is a hateful character, but I can’t just seem to hate him. Parsons did a good job of portraying his expression. Acting score: 9/10

4. Li Yi Feng: I really like Li Yi Feng in Sunny Happiness. Then I saw him again in Daughter is back and Legend of fragrance. The characters he played were always likeable. Although his acting is not on the really blow-minded level, he did well. I would like to see him play a villain once. Acting score: 8/10

5. Chen Xiao: I first saw Chen Xiao in Mei Ren Xin Ji but I didn’t know it was him. Then I saw him again in many other dramas where he played the supporting character. The female prime minister is the drama which made me like him. He did a convincing job but not astonishing. Acting score: 7/10

6. Raymond Lam: Many people may not agree with this, but I found him a good actor. Well, in his early career, I really loved him. Now I just like him. I don’t really remember anymore, when was the first time I saw him. Was it in A Step Into The Past or was it in Eternal Happiness? Early in his career, he did such a fine job in those two dramas and Survivor’s Law. I used to be a crazy fan of him, watched all his series, buy posters of him and listened to his songs. But in recent years he let me down. None of his acting captured me. He’s now more into trying to be chok than acting. I scrapped him from my list of favored actors, until I saw his latest serie The Virtuos Queen of Han. While watching it, I kept thinking about his younger days and why I was so crazy about him. This guy can act; he just needs a good script. TVB isn’t really providing that. I hope he finds more good scripts in China. Acting score: 8/10

7. Park Shi Hoo: He really is a good actor. In Prosecutor princess, I wanted to hug him. The Princess’ man is a really good drama. I was so hurt there for them. He acted so well. He only played sad characters until Cheongdongdam Alice. I didn’t know he can act cute too. It’s a shame that he got into a scandal, otherwise can watch more dramas of him. I don’t know if the it’s true that he raped the actress or not, so I won’t be biased. His acting skills for me is outside his personal life.  Acting score: 10/10

8. Damian Lau: A veteran actor whom I watched since I was a kid. The dramas which I watched with him in it are uncountable. All of his characters, he played them well. Acting score: 10/10

9. Wallace Huo: I’m a bit confused about him. Do I like his acting more or do I like his looks more? So I tried to be more into his acting and watched some of his recent dramas. He can act. He has the looks and he’s single. A fantasy of every fangirl. I used to like him for his looks in 100% señorita. Now I can finally enjoy his acting. Acting score: 8.5/10

10. Wallace Chung: He made it on the list after My sunshine. I really fell in love with him there. His acting was really great. He’s someone I’ll definitely check out his other works. Acting score: 9.5/10

11. Ji Sung: No need to say if someone acted well if they can play 7 different characters. He’s amazing. Acting score: 10/10

12. Eric Suen: Many may not remember him as an actor. He just faded away. I like him so much in Princess Huai Yu, that I still like him now. His eyes can really show emotion. Because of him, emperor Kangxi became my favorite emperor. Acting score:9.5/10

13. Lee Joong Ki: There aren’t many actors who can shed their image of a flower boy, but he did that. I’m glad he did it because I like him more now, although I have to admit that he really is more beautiful than a woman. Acting score: 9.5/10

14. Song Joong Ki: Song Joong Ki is one of those actors that can act dark characters even though he has a face of a flowerboy. I’ll definitely check out his new drama. Acting score: 8/10

15. Kwong Wah: The emperor of emperor’s. I haven’t seen any actor who can play so many emperors and so a damn good job. If he was born in the ancient times, he definitely will be an emperor. He just has that aura around him. It’s a pity that he left the entertainment industry. I’ll wait patiently for his return. Acting score: 9.5/10

16. Benz Hui: I like this guy. He is so funny. He can be bad, cute, romantic and funny. Nowadays I only watch TVB if he is playing in the serie. Acting score 10/10

17. Gallen Lo: The most versatile actor ever. I liked him as a child, I liked him as a teenager and now I still like him. He is such a good actor. Acting score 11/10

Actors I used to like

1. Vic Zou: I think I liked more for his looks XD than for his acting. His acting was really bad in Mars and Meteor Garden. It was ok in Silence. Some people say he improved in Black and White, but I didn’t see or feel it. To me, he always acts the same. He lacks something in his acting. Acting score: 6/10

2. Ron Ng: Dead eyes. His eyes show no emotions, there’s no life in his eyes. His acting is so so. When I first saw him in The Triumph in The Sky, I liked him and watched almost all of his series. I was young then and liked the bad boy type. Those who were bad to their enemies, but are really sweet to the person they love. I was ignorant and didn’t look at his acting, forgive me. Acting score: 6/ 10

3. Kwon Sang Woo: My first Korean crush. The first Korean drama that I watched was Stairway to Heaven. He’s a good actor, but I didn’t watch his recent dramas, which made him fade away from my memories. Acting score: 8.5/10

4. Mike He: The same as Vic Zhou. I think I fell for his looks when I was young. But as I got older, I began to fell less for their looks. Now I can see that their acting isn’t as great as I used to think. Acting score: 6.5/10

5. Ming Dao: After The Prince Turn To Frog, I watched all of his series. His last serie that I watched was Beauties Of The Emperor. It was such a let down. Didn’t watch any drama of him since then. Acting score: 8/10

6. Jang Geun Suk: I like Jang Geun Suk so much. He is great as an actor, but lately I think he is beginning to look more and more like a girl. Acting score: 8.5/10
