Two days later, they returned to the valley where Zhang Xin was. Zhao Zimu felt relieved. Zhang Xin was still there, otherwise, it would be a bit difficult for her to safely withdraw from the grassland with this group of wounded soldiers.

Zhang Xin was shocked when he saw the group returning. He never thought that Zhao Zimu would bring back all the living people. He was certain that there would only be a few soldiers who could survive after some had been removed along the way.

Also, he originally thought that Zhao Zimu went into the enemy camp just to rescue Lin Qing because she went alone. It would already not be bad if she was able to save Lin Qing. Expecting her to rescue the other people was simply a wishful thinking.

Her achievement made everyone stunned and they acknowledged allegiance to her.

After Zhang Xin took the lead to curtsy to Lin Qing, he knelt down on one knee to Zhao Zimu. All the soldiers immediately did the same. The eyes of the rescued imperial soldiers were even more special. The implied meaning in all of them was worth to let one ponder about.

Lin Qing went to stand behind Zhao Zimu. Although, Zhao Zimu didn’t understand what he meant, she motioned the soldiers to get up. Then, she discovered that the arrangement of the soldiers had changed slightly. The soldiers distributed in the valley faintly formed a protective circle and protected her and Lin Qing inside of it. The arrangement they had made previously was just to make it easy to leave or fight the enemy.

Zhang Xin didn’t show any dissatisfaction and there was even a hint that it had been his idea.

Zhao Zimu glanced once at Lin Qing who was behind her. Lin Qing just nodded silently at her. Zhao Zimu also didn’t bother with it anymore.

She was pulled by Lin Qing to a piece of bluestone and sat down. Then, he opened her palm. There was a striking red scar of about two centimeters on it and a thin layer of damaged skin.

Lin Qing’s gaze shook and he walked to Zhang Xin. Not long after, he came back and looked gloomily at her.

He went to ask Zhang Xin for medication for outer wounds. These people who used weapons all year long would definitely have some medication for wounds. However, after so many days of marching and fighting, Zhang Xin had run out of medication. Also, those soldiers who had escaped also needed medication.

After taking a sullen look at Zhao Zimu, he sat down beside her and moved her right hand in front of him. Then, he lowered his head and gently moved his tongue up and down on it.

The gentle tongue moved on her hand little by little and carefully sweeping over her wound.  Zhao Zimu’s hand shook and let him be.

The legs of Zhang Xin who walked into this direction after collecting some medication, went soft. He almost threw the bottle in his hand. He immediately turned around as if he didn’t see anything and left.

Zhao Zimu felt a bit itchy and couldn’t help but laugh, “Qiansui, you being like this will make people misunderstand.”

“Humph, misunderstand what? Even if they misunderstand, they will only think that you are mine or.” Lin Qing looked at her eyes with a sinister smile and said, “That you are gay.”

The smile on Zhao Zimu’s face froze for a moment. Then, she quickly glanced once at the soldiers around them. As expected, many of the secret glances immediately disappeared.

She…truly doesn’t have that interest…

Lin Qing looked sullenly at her and said, “What, are you unwilling?”

Zhao Zimu immediately smiled at him and said that she didn’t mean that, but she didn’t know what that Lin Qing had the meaning of letting everyone know that their relation was ambiguous. It didn’t matter if they think that he and she had that kind of relationship.

Lin Qing was about to leave soon and wished that he could put his own label on her to let everyone know that she was his. However, he knew that that would be very detrimental to her and would even cause her to fail what she wanted to achieve in the northwest.

But…Lin Qing’s eyes darkened. He leaned closer to her lips, pressed her down and kissed her fiercely. One of Zhao Zimu’s hand had been grabbed by him. She could only put her other hand on his back to support his weight.

“Cough!”

Seeing sir Zhao was in a sorry state after being kissed, all the imperial soldiers in the valley forgot their manners and were unable to take their eyes of those two people.

Seeing Zhao Zimu whose pale thin lips had turned bright red due to the kiss and a trace of desire was added on her cold face, Zhang Xin’s heart trembled and he retracted his eyes at the same time.

That such a fairy and demon-like person was willing to commit himself to Lin Qing made a certain choice strengthen in Zhang Xin who was about to return to the imperial capital.

After a while, Zhao Zimu said with a hoarse voice to Lin Qing, “Enough?”

Lin Qing slowly straightened from her body. His dangerous gaze glanced at the surrounding soldiers again, frightening the soldiers that had been dumbstruck and making their six spirits and seven apertures return to where they belonged. They didn’t glance sideways and stood like a stone statue with a solemn expression and who appeared to be responsible and diligent.

• Six spirits: heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, spleen and gallbladder
• Seven apertures: 2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 nostrils and 1 mouth.
• The Chinese saying is that when one is dumbstruck the six spirits and seven apertures are out of place.

Zhao Zimu laughed once and involuntarily attracted Lin Qing’s gaze back to her. Looking at her bewitching smile, Lin Qing felt that it was too dangerous leaving her alone in the northwest.

Zhao Zimu hooked a strand of his black hair and kissed it. Then, she leaned over and whispered in his ear, “I love you.”

More than myself.

This was the most direct and affectionate confession. Sometimes, only an ‘I love you’ was more effective than anything else to appease a disturbed lover.

“It is quite useful”, Zhao Zimu thought silently whole looking at Lin Qing’s eyes that had calmed down.
