Chapter 39 The prank (2)
Li Youde said, “Consort De is very happy with the things you made.”
In fact, something had happened in the palace today. The craftsman who was caving the palace beam didn’t stand firm and fell off. He was half-death at that time. Li Youde looked once at her. Then, he lowered his eyes and said, “As long as I can afford it.”
Chen Hui thought excitedly for a moment and said, “Lord, this Lady Chen is very satisfied these days. Can I first store this reward and use it when this Lady Chen found something I want in the future?”
Li Youde laughed once, “Lady Chen, you really know how to negotiate.”
Chen Hui lowered her head shyly and only took it as if Li Youde was complimenting her.
Li Youde said, “It’s up to you.”
Chen Hui looked up happily and said, “Thank you, lord!”
Li Youde said, “I heard Xiao Wu say that you were making food just now?”
Chen Hui said, “That is right, lord. I was idle anyway, so, I tried.”
“What did you make?” Li Youde asked with interest.
Chen Hui said, “Jujube cake.”
“Oh?” Li Youde’s expression moved slightly and some memories from a long time ago suddenly emerged. He smiled, “Bring it to let me have a taste.”
“This…,” Chen Hui glanced at Li Youde hesitantly and told him the truth, “Answering lord, I haven’t made them well. They are too sweet. I’m afraid that they can’t be eaten.”
Li Youde chuckled, “Jujube cake is supposed to be sweet. It is nothing that couldn’t be eaten.”
Chen Hui thought, this is what he strongly requested. If he dies from excessively sweet food, it wouldn’t be considered that she poisoned him, right?
Chen Hui told Li Youde that she was going to the kitchen and ran away. On the way, she met Xiao Tiao who was carrying a food box. Xiao Tiao asked Chen Hui in a low voice, “Lady, what should we do with these jujube cakes?”
Even someone like Xiao Tiao who had never refused any food thought that these cakes were too sweet and didn’t know how to deal with them.
Chen Hui grinned, “Lord wants to have a taste.”
Xiao Tiao’s face paled, “After lord tasted them…would he beat this slave?”
Chen Hui said, “Don’t worry. I made these. It has nothing to do with you.” She took the food box and ran back to Chrysanthemum Yard where Li Youde was waiting for her.
Chen Hui put down the food box. There were a few jujube cakes inside it which looked exquisite and made people get the appetite.
Li Youde picked up a jujube cake and looked at it. Suddenly, he looked up, smiled at Chen Hui and asked, “Lady Chen wouldn’t have put poison in it, right?”
Chen Hui suddenly showed anger at being suspected, but she suppressed it and said, “If lord doubts this Lady Chen like this, then, don’t eat it. It is not that this Lady Chen insist that lord eats it.”
Li Youde just said that casually. Seeing that Chen Hui threw a fit with him, his expression darkened and said, “Did your temper get bratty because of my support?”
Chen Hui became a bit timid, but when she thought that Li Youde was in a good mood today, his temper would naturally also be better. Moreover, this has nothing to do with her. She picked up a piece of jujube cake and said, “Since lord doesn’t trust this Lady Chen, this Lady Chen will show you.”

Chen Hui looked up at Li Youde. His hand was next to her mouth. She opened her mouth, took a small bite and pretended to be chewing. In fact, every time she closed her mouth, she didn’t bite the small piece of cake. In the end, it rolled to her throat and she swallowed the small piece wholly.
Ah Da who was standing at a side, quickly turned his gaze away as if he didn’t see anything.
“Lord, see, this Lady Chen is fine and nothing happened,” Chen Hui smiled and looked at Li Youde.
Li Youde retrieved his hand, bit the side that Chen Hui hasn’t bitten and chewed slowly. He seemed to not have eaten jujube cake for more than ten years. Presumably, the memory of eating it the last time was too beautiful that he didn’t want it to be covered by another memory. The sweet taste was as he remembered…
Li Youde choked suddenly, held his neck and the look on his face suddenly became weird.
Ah Da hurriedly said, “Lord, lord, what is the matter?” He raised his head and glared angrily at Chen Hui, “You put poison in it?”
Chen Hui calmly poured a cup of tea for Li Youde. After he grabbed it and drank, she said, “Lord, this Lady Chen had told you that this jujube cake is indeed a bit too sweet.”
