Special Chapter 2 The face of the silver mirror
I woke up from the deep sleep. Jing Yan had already gone to and come back from the mortal realm.

She spent most of her time in deep sleeps. And I, I usually followed every successive emperor no less than hundred times through fire and water. It was only after I recognized the empress of heaven as my owner that I could sleep for a few thousand years.
Sure enough, what I speculated wasn’t groundless.
From time to time, Jing Yan would barge into my mirror, lay at my side, rested one chin in one hand and said, “I really envy Chen Xi to be able to always be by his side. Why doesn’t the emperor of heaven let me turn into a human? Why doesn’t he even allow me to speak one word?”
I tried to kick her out. She dodged the kick.
“Why can’t we cultivate and become a god? Why can we only be a mirror?” Jing Yan pouted and complained.

At that time, I appreciated this farce full of joy. After all, this endless long life was very boring. Unexpectedly, when I was waiting to watch the play, there was not much left of Jing Yan’s spiritual energy.
She didn’t tell the emperor and empress of heaven and secretly went to the heavenly prison. She gave all her lifelong spiritual energy to Nan Zhi. When she came back, she just grinned at me, “Like that, no one can hurt Nan Zhi.”

I and Jing Yan had the same long life as the heaven and earth and like gods, we were unable to be born or extinguished. I thought that I could always find her, even if it was a tiny bit of a broken soul, I could always summon her back.
But no, up in the heaven, down in the earth and in the yellow springs; Feng Shu took me to search for her through the six realms, not a trace of her was found.
It turned out that when the heart dies, the spirit would be gone.
Even if she was born on the same day as the heaven and earth, there was a day that she ceased to exist before the heaven and earth.
Nan Zhi had come to look for me. I recklessly jeered at him, “Why did she die and resurrect? Why did she change her name to Jing Yan? Why did she have a silver mirror as big brother?”

I looked at his back and laughed evilly, “If you are willing to take that body back, perhaps there is still a way. After all, Chen Xi doesn’t recognize you anymore and married another, didn’t she?”
His back was cold. He never looked back.

And here I thought FS was moved only by kidness when he fed LX with medicine containing his blood and cultivation. Instead, he was moved only by his plan to open the seal on the god realm.
The reason why LX attracted demons was because she was merged with CX’s demoniac spirit?
I dont get why FS sent cruelly LX on the pointless quest to restore his soul. Was It just because he wanted to torment her?
Why did the High Deity show LX that illusion about her “death”? Again just because he wanted to torment her?
My guest is that FS wanted LX to experience the pain of being separated from her lover and let her grow, so when the time is right, her power would be more unconceivable when he pretends to kill NZ. Somehow, I think that Donghua knew that FS is a god and he was ordered by FS to give LX that illusion
I don’t know it all seems so much convoluted. How could FS be so sure about how events will unfold in the future? From a reader’s point of view the scene where NZ “kills” LX is powerful and tearful, but considering the plot it’s really difficult to believe that FS could orchestrate all the events that lead to that scene.
I don’t think LX attracted demons because her body didn’t have demonic aura. It was said that Qin Ling specifically chose towns disturbed by demons, so, he can save the people and accumulate merits, so that JY’s punishment wouldn’t be too harsh.
You think so? I re-read all from the beginning and not considering the demons who attack the village back at the start, there are other two cases where demons suddenly appear.
The first one: after 6 months LX is staying on Cangjia Mountain, she leaves the mountain because she wants to find her brother and several demons attack.

It is indeed quite confusion. The author failed to think it through. My theory about why the lotuses turned to ashes was perhaps because it was NZ who was in fact the one who made the lotuses in her stead (his lotuses also turned into ashes). The second attack of the demons I think was done by FS because he wanted to let himself die and go inside the mirror
I thought that it was LX alone that created the lotuses, first because NZ wasn’t with her and second because she was a person/spirit with such a pure heart.
FS is so despicable… He was right in wanting the seal opened but his means were very unfair. He could have waited for LX to gain her memories and asked her if she wanted to help him. Instead he just used her so much creating such a complex plot for the sake of her suffering
Hmmm…when Feng Shu re-appeared before Ling Xi, he asked her of she remembered and Ling Xi did not know what she should remember. Now that I’ve read this, could it possibly be the thing about sealing the gods’ gate? Cause he said in this chapter that the one who sealed it should be the one to unseal it and Qing Ling was surprised that he’s pertaining to Ling Xi. Could it be it? But in the previous chapter, when Ling Xi’s past memories came back, she said that when she took a blow from the emperor’s attack, Nan Zhi used the chance to seal the gods’ gate. could it be that she’s confused?
I interpret it this way: NZ was the one who actually sealed the gate but he couldn’t have done it without the help and cultivation of LX

FS asked that question to see if she remembers that she is Jing Yan. NZ is the one who sealed the gate, but it was JY who gave him all her spiritual energy. She took the blow of the emperor, enabling NZ to seal the gate. If not, NZ would’ve perished with that blow.

Hey Miss Dreamer. I was really bothered by the untold story of Chen Xi and Nan Zhi. I have a trauma of the first love and the present love having the same faces because of my favorite anime that shares the same dilemma, inu-yasha. Nan Zhi being silent in all this makes it all the more frustrating. But here’s what I think. Even in the immortal realms, appearances of the royals should be kept and hidden political agendas are at work. Nan Zhi was accused to have been in love with a demoness. The story of Chen Xi and Nan Zhi taken from hearsays from the God realm cannot be fully trusted. The talks of the demons, as well as other immortals are all based from this. But the only raw fact that empress has gathered was that a demoness followed Nan Zhi all year around. It was never mentioned that he had a relationship with her.
Ling Xi’s take on things may be misconstrued but at least hers and Qing Lan’s observations were first hand and can be relied on with regard to the sequence of events. So contemplating, here’s my take on things. Nan Zhi and CX were taken as prisoners with the alleged rumors as the justification. Ling Xi empowered Nan Zhi. He broke out of prison because of unfair judgment. And summoned all the devils and rose as the devil king. He started sealing the gates in anger. And when the empress shot a deadly blow, Chen Xi protected him, thereby scattering her soul.
I think, ths rumors that Nan Zhi battled with the heavens for Chen Xi are wrong. Chen Xi was just a collateral damage. Ling Xi just saw that Chen Xi always accompanied Nan Zhi but never noted any of Nan zhis acts of affection for Chen Xi. With her attentiveness, she should have noted some. The looks in his eyes, the way he treated her differently. But nothing. She merely said that Nan Zhi loved Chen Xi. Qing Lan’s taunting Nan Zhi about his former lover cannot also be fully trusted. Because he’s always been in the hands of the empress and knew nothing about what’s really going on with Nan Zhi.
Nan Zhi exhausting his life energy to revive Chen Xi 10 000 years ago may not be because of romantic affection but maybe because of guilt. Maybe he did not reciprocate Chen xi’s feelings. I hope it’s like that. He reminds me of Ye Hua in the novel 10 miles peach blossom. Ye Hua was always remained silent and did not refute any rumors about su Jin (his supposedly mistress). His silence caused a lot of misunderstanding s to form in the female lead’s mind but in actuality, the one he loved from beginning to end is only the female lead. The other immortals are mistaken of the inside issues of the heavenly palace. Many things are twisted and misunderstood. Like how su Jin was loved by ye Hua because he won’t take any concubines. And like how the female lead is not loved because ye Hua took her eyes.
Ye Hua had his own pov to clear his side to the readers but Nan Zhi doesn’t. Still, even told in a 3rd person pov, I can still feel the intense love he has for Ling Xi. There is no doubt it is Ling Xi he keeps in his heart.

It truly is unknown whether NZ had ever loved CX in that way. The empress could’ve just make it appear like NZ was in love CX. LX may have misunderstood the love NZ had for CX as romantic love, since CX was always following NZ and NZ didn’t drive her away.
It had been a long time since I read 10 miles peach blossom, so I dont remember much of it anymore. I do think that the author could’ve made a special chapter from NZ’s point of view from the moment of the clash in heaven to now. It would’ve enlightened the readers.
If I had not read Ye Hua’s pov at last part of ten miles peach blossom, I would have been bothered just like now because then there would be no closure on his and su jin( other concubine) ‘s case. Just like Nan Zhi and Chen xi’ s case. But I think just like how ye Hua only loved Bai Qian from beginning to end, Nan Zhi also ever loved Ling Xi. I mean, won’t it elicit a much different reaction from him than just awkwardness if the woman he supposedly have loved enough to battle with the heavens 10 000 years ago has the same face as his current love? I think if he loved Chen Xi, he would respect her individuality and he would not be able to wish that they were the same person just so he could keep Ling Xi by his side. Chen Xi seems more of a tool.
Argggh. I too really wish for a chapter with Nan Zhi’s pov. It would have sealed the deal. But then again, there won’t be any mystery and exciting debate anymore.
But miss Dreamer, disregarding my personal feelings and comments, can you notice any inconsistencies or refutable points with how I accounted for the sequence of events? I based my recount on the details of the epilogue and special chapter 2. 10 000 years ago, Nan Zhi and Chen Xi were imprisoned. Ling Xi secretly shared her power to Nan Zhi. Nan Zhi was given an unfair sentence by the gods. He summoned the demons and staged a rebellion. The emperor attacked him and Ling Xi blocked it. He started sealing the God realm. In the process, the empress attacked him and Chen Xi blocked it. Chen Xi died and Nan Zhi finished sealing the God realm. He rescued Chen xi’s soul and fell asleep for thousand of years.

You guessed correctly, 10000 ago, Nan Zhi was imprisoned for keeping a demoness at his side. LX went into prison to give him all her power so no one can hurt him. Nan Zhi summoned all the devils and rebelled against the god. The emperor wanted to kill him because of this and LX blocked the blow. The empress also attacked and CX blocked that blow. CX’s soul got scattered and LX followed her body, trying to at least protect that, so, NZ won’t be sad. Nan Zhi was able to pull back one of CX’s soul and went into an eternal sleep because of exhaustion.
